Wood Group Mustang has secured multiple contracts in the North Sea over the past 12 months, worth more than $130 million, and is currently recruiting over 100 personnel in its Woking office.
As part of the company's framework contract with Statoil, awarded in 2011, to deliver multi-discipline engineering for their onshore and offshore facilities worldwide, Wood Group Mustang has carried out a range of projects including concept feasibility, concept selection, concept definition, FEED phases, and detailed engineering for all types of facilities.
Wood Group Mustang's Woking operation has been able to draw on Wood Group Mustang's extensive global expertise. Wood Group companies have delivered work to Statoil on several projects in locations including Norway, Canada, Brazil and the Gulf of Mexico as well as for the Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm in the UK.
Recently Wood Group Mustang was awarded two $multi-million engineering design contracts in the Norwegian Sector. One of these contracts is for the topsides detailed engineering and design of an offshore oil & gas production facility that will be operated by Det Norske in the Ivar Aasen field, announced in February. The contract was awarded to Wood Group Mustang by SMOE, the Singapore-based engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the project.
The facility will be located in 112 meters (367 feet) of water. The topsides is scheduled to have an approximate dry weight of 13,700 tonnes, including flare and 70-bed living quarters. This significant award will result in peak staff of approximately 200 people, and the project is being performed in the Woking and Kuala Lumpur offices of Wood Group Mustang, with Woking taking the lead role.
Wood Group Mustang's Woking office is also completing front-end engineering design (FEED) of a jacket and topsides for a wellhead platform in the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea for a major energy client. Wood Group Mustang's contract includes management of the interface with related brownfield, pipeline and automation system contractors.
Gary Wilkes, general manager for Wood Group Mustang said: "The future for Wood Group Mustang in the UK is exciting. We are receiving new projects as our reputation gains momentum with industry decision makers who have heard about or experienced our positive results."
